CCA 2023 Fall Meeting in Nova Scotia, September 29th

Hospitality September 28th – 30th

The Bras d’Or Station welcomes all CCA members to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia for the Fall meeting of the CCA the last weekend of September 2023.

Lunenburg is well known to CCA members who have sailed into the harbour on their own boats.  This charming historic town offers a vibrant harbour, colourful buildings and a fascinating seafaring history.

You will have the opportunity to wander through the Fisheries Museum where you can check out the displays and dioramas and hear seafaring stories.  You will see the famous restored schooner, Bluenose II.  You can visit the 1895 castle-like school at the top of the hill, Lunenburg Academy, and possibly take in a concert at the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance (LAMP).  You will want to tour St. John’s Anglican Church built in 1754 and rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in 2001.  Lunenburg is filled with beautiful historic homes, art galleries, gift shops and music.  It is a fascinating town to explore.

Committee meetings will take place at the Lunenburg School of Art and the CCA Board meeting will be held in St. John’s Parish Hall, built in the late 1800’s as a Court House.

Participants will find excellent accommodations in the various inns and B&B’s in Lunenburg and everyone will enjoy sampling the many fine eating establishments throughout the town. Everything is within easy walking distance.

Fall is a wonderful time of year to explore Nova Scotia with it’s clear skies, mild days and cooler nights.  We encourage you to consider staying in the province longer, perhaps exploring the many harbours of the southwestern coast, checking out harvest markets in the Annapolis Valley, heading to Cape Breton to enjoy the vibrant fall colours of the Acadian forests or seeing the Bras d’Or Lakes, where the CCA was first conceived 100 years ago.  Should you intend to do this, please contact us and we’d be happy to share ideas of where you might explore, delicious places to eat and interesting accommodations for your overnights.
