Cleaning our ocean!
Mary Crowley, ocean advocate and sailor, logged 115,000 miles at sea

Mary started sailing on Lake Michigan as a child. In 1979, she founded two organizations in
Sausalito. Ocean Voyages Inc., a global yacht chartering company, & Ocean Voyages Institute,
a non-profit public charity committed to preserving the ocean environment, maritime arts and
sciences, and island cultures. OV Institute has been concentrating on the plastic proliferating in
our ocean for the last 10 years.

Mary’s passion for sailing and our ocean has fueled her
dynamic actions to remove toxic plastics from our ocean, thus preserving the “Blue Heart” of our
planet. She is truly an effective advocate for our ocean. Come hear the story of removing 42
tons of ghost nets and consumer plastics on a sailing cargo ship and plans for a 2020 scaled up
ocean clean-up.

PLEASE NOTE:  Mary Crowley will be speaking at the St. Francis Yacht Club at its Wednesday Yachting Speaker Series which begins at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15 .  This luncheon will be open to St. Francis members ($18.00)  and non-members alike, however, non-members will need to be provided a guest card if  they are paying for themselves, and non-members will be charged $18.00 plus additional service fees and gratuities.
