I am a long-time San Francisco Bay sailor. My wife, Kristi, and I circumnavigated in our yacht at the time, Skylark a 53-foot S&S yawl built in 1937 in Wiscasset, Maine. Our circumnavigation, during 1972-1974, covered 31,106 nautical miles and we visited 102 ports of call. Our current yacht, Lydia, is a 1956-built, Edson I. Schock designed, 44-foot LOA cutter that we purchased from the San Diego Maritime Museum in 2000. We have long been associated with our Lydia going back to the 1960's when I sailed aboard her while a cadet at the California Maritime Academy and Lydia belonged to the captain of our ship, the T/S Golden Bear.
