This is the survey for the planned 2021 Newfoundland Cruise. We're asking about you, and about FOUR options:

 

Option A: CCA / RNYC two week one-way East Coast Meander From Terra Nova Bay through Bonavista Bay, ending in Conception Bay (Recap of ‘87)

* 973/900 nm delivery from/to CC Canal

* Start three weeks after MH Race ends

* 40 minute bus ride from Gander airport to Terra Nova, 15 minutes from RNYC to St John’s airport

* Full participation by RNYC members with many boats likely to join

* Shore functions in Terra Nova, Trinity and Long Pond RNYC

* Warmer, low fog sailing

* Maximal time for socializing with Newfoundlanders.

* Option to circle island clockwise when delivering to Terra Nova

Option B: CCA / RNYC two week East Coast Loop from RNYC in Conception, Trinity and Bonavista Bays

* 900 nm delivery from/to CC Canal

* Start three weeks after MH Race ends

* Easy 15 minute access to St John’s airport at beginning and end

* Full participation and support by RNYC

* Shore functions in Terra Nova, Trinity and Long Pond RNYC

* Warmer, low fog sailing

* More sailing time between events, less time to smell the flowers

 

 

Option C: CCA / RNYC two weeks in Placentia Bay, French Islands, Burin Peninsula and Fortune Bay

* 807/710 nm delivery from/to CC Canal

* Start two weeks after MH Race ends

* 1.5 hr drive from Arnold’s Cove to St John’s airport

* 4.5 hr shuttle from Grand Bank to St John’s airport

* Possible road connection from Hermitage to Gander airport

* Less participation by RNYC

* Placentia Bay frequently features fog and stronger winds

* Possible shore functions in St Lawrence, the French island of St Pierre and Grand Bank

* Option to visit fjord outports in transit

Option D: CCA / RNYC two week  South Coast Cruise Burgeo to St Pierre

* 670/690 nm delivery from/to CC Canal              

* Start two weeks after MH Race ends

* Nature cruise with minimal social interaction with RNYC members, but considerable interaction with local Newfoundlanders

* Weather-dependent small plane in/out of St Pierre, or ferry to Fortune with a 4.5 hr shuttle to St John’s airport for those needing to change or transport crew and guests

* Possible shore functions in Burgeo, Grand Bank and the French island of St Pierre

* No roads on some portions of the south coast but there are roads to Port aux Basques, Burgeo, Bay D’Espoir, Fortune Bay and all points on the Burin pennisula

* Visit 2 or 3 unique outport villages and abandoned ghost-towns only accessible by sea and
