In November, the San Francisco Station "crashes" the St Francis Yacht Club Wednesday Yachting Lunch! The speaker will be Chuck Hawley, Rear Commodore of the SAF Station, who will talk about his experiences investigating various marine accidents and incidents, and the results of those investigations. During his 6 years as Chairman of US Sailing's Safety at Sea Committee, Chuck and his committee members were called in several times to investigate sailing incidents, or to assist the Coast Guard in finding out what exactly happened, and how to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Ron Young, the organizer behind the Wednesday Yachting Lunch series, will interview Chuck and open it up to the audience to ask questions.

Registration Form

This is the sign-up form for the Wednesday Yachting Lunch at the St. Francis Yacht Club on November 12, 2025. The speaker will be Chuck Hawley, your Rear Commodore, and the topic will be Lessons Learned from Sailing Accidents. This will be an in-depth look at four recent accidents involving high profile sailboat races, and how the investigations have led to changes in the equipment rules, or training of crews, or the administration of races.

Use this page if you're not a St. Francis YC member, or if you're not attending as the guest of a St. Francis member. If you are in one of those categories, use the sign-up form here so we can have an accurate headcount.

See you there!
