The Gulf of Maine Post represents over 130 affiliated CCA members and about 160 "friends" of the post, including past member spouses and other CCA members who sail the Maine coast and participate in our functions. To better serve this community, we revisited the Cruising Club of America mission statements, which have guided us for over 100 years. There is no other volunteer organization with such a significant impact on the sport of sailing. we encourage each member to draw inspiration from one another as we work towards these goals together:

• To promote and facilitate cruising by amateurs.
• To encourage the development of suitable types of sail, motor, and auxiliary craft for cruising purposes.
• To stimulate an interest in seamanship, navigation, and the handling of small vessels.
• To gather and keep on file all information which may be of value to its members (and others) cruising in any waters.
