July 19 -August 1, 2025
Ten months till we all meet in Oban to cruise the Western Isles!
This is a cruise with a difference. The Clyde Cruising Club, the Royal Highland Yacht Club, the Irish Cruising Club and the Royal Cruising Club have all volunteered to help with events so this is a great communal effort!
Kerrera Marina, Oban, will be the host site for the Opening Meet & Greet Party on Saturday, July 19th and the Finale Dinner Thursday, July 31st, run by the CCA.
A Sunflower Raft is always a special event and the Royal Cruising Club has taken this in hand for Loch Drambuie on Tuesday, July 22nd. Most probably after a visit to Tobermory.
Visit Loch Scavaig on the way to Loch Harport, don't forget to take your paddle board up to Loch Coruisk, an easier way to get to the other end!
Loch Harport and Talisker Distillery will be visited and the Irish Cruising Club has agreed to run this event. A Lunch Party on Thursday, July 24th. Perhaps a late evening sail across the Minch to the Outer Hebrides or a couple of days to choose from, with an eye on the weather!
The ultimate destination of any Hebridean summer cruise is Vattersay. The perfect anchorage for a convivial party ashore. Sunday, July 27th, the Clyde Cruising Club and the Royal Highland Yacht Club have generously agreed to take this one on. Major logistics are involved with delivering everything that's needed. There is now the Vattersay Causeway, from Castle Bay, it all had to come in by boat for the 1985 75th CCC Party!
Many other unscheduled days for gunk holing with interesting anchorages and islands to explore and enjoy spontaneous gatherings
A 2025 CCA Transatlantic Feeder Cruise is in the planning stages for an early June (10th) departure from Newport, RI to Kinsale, Ireland. The proposed route is a standard great circle, leaving Newfoundland and the ice triangle on the port hand, then proceeding direct to Ireland. After making landfall and re-provisioning (and sorting out the vessels), the plan is to voyage up the Irish Sea to join the Western Isles Cruise proper. No doubt with some Irish hospitality along the way.
A Buddy Boat system will be worked out as the locals have so much local lore to share with those from further afield. After a gap of fifteen years there will be many for whom this will be their first mixed club cruise in company. Many new friends to be made.
Also the hope that some may then cross the Pond to enjoy and share all we have to offer on the East coast of the US.
CCA members sign up here and for all the other clubs please sign up directly with your own club and see you in Oban!
Enjoy Nigel Calder's amazing view of Scotland, collected over several years of cruising in those magic waters! If you missed it, here is the link for his slide show:
Scotland is famed the world over for its stunning anchorages, friendly harbours, moorings and
marinas. Albeit the weather can be temperamental and sailing conditions may be lively, the
outstanding scenery combined with armfuls of places to visit makes this one of the really outstanding
cruising venues to explore.
The CCA has not ventured to Scotland for some time but participants in the 2010 Clyde Cruising Club
centennial cruise will recall the amazing hospitality that was a constant feature.
If you are interested, it would be very helpful if you could complete the Preliminary Interest Survey.
