Rear Commodore’s Report to the Boston Station

Introduction

The CCA Annual Meeting at the NYYC in NYC was a well-attended, fun and lively event. The committee meetings were very popular, and the dinner and awards ceremony were festive. The Annual Meeting is an excellent time to connect with fellow members from all Club Stations and to get a better understanding of how the Club is managed. I was able to attend three of the meetings reported on below.

A new slate of officers was elected at the Members Meeting.

Commodore A. Chace Anderson

The BRF’s mission is to provide financial support to the Bermuda Race to sustain the race for future generations. The Committee’s goal is to build an endowment of $5 million The first year of fund raising (2025) has been very successful raising approximately $1.5 million in donations and pledges.

Safety and Seamanship Committee

The S&SC meeting is always very well attended and this year there were several important new developments brought to the attention of the committee. These new courses will be available on the CCA website soon. Mark Lenci wrote a Safety Moment explaining the various types of AIS devices with suggestions for different types of boats. Ernie Godshalk reported on the work of the Yacht to Yacht Crew Rescue committee whose report will be out soon.
