Topic - Restoration of the Schooner Martha

  Cocktails will commence at 5:00 pm followed by a presentation by Robert D’Arcy, accompanied by his wife Holly. Attending members may ask questions regarding both the restoration and the cruises which the Martha has taken following her rebirth.  

Robert D’Arcy of the Schooner Martha yacht and foundation will be talking about the restoration, history of the yacht, and the current work of the foundation.  You can get an idea of what they are doing here:  schoonermartha.org

Robert d'Arcy, is captain and head of the Schooner Martha Foundation.  Robert is a shipwright, a trade he learned from his father.  He rescued the Martha and saved her from rotting in the mud flats.  They have sailed kids all over and done some charity work getting kids sailing that normally wouldn't ever get to see, much less sail and learn to handle a vessel as beautiful as Martha.  His talk is excellent.

The cocktail hour will include the ability for members to go to various virtual meeting rooms to have small group  general conversation and a short pre-meeting instruction period for those not familiar with Zoom. Obviously both cocktails and dinner will be BYOB and BYOD as the case may be. It is requested that members dress as they would for the annual dinner, with neck ties and coats etc. This will be the least cost annual dinner any of us have ever attended. However it has been suggested that members may wish to have small gatherings or dinner parties and participate as a group. The meeting rooms will remain open after the conclusion of the presentation for those still interested in conversing with other attending members.
