Dear Boston Station Member,
I just returned from New York City, where I attended the Annual Meeting at which Chris Otorowski ended his two year term as Commodore. Jay Gowell succeeded Chris as Commodore and Chace Anderson succeeded Jay as Vice Commodore. I won’t go into details as I’m sure the meeting will be covered in the next issue of Waypoints. Chris received a standing ovation for his excellent work as Commodore. Jay and Chace are already hard at work planning future events, beginning with the Antigua Guadeloupe Cruise that starts on Saturday, and the club is in great shape.
Closer to home, we have a number of things coming up in the next couple of months:
- Northeast Ocean Race Symposium, March 16, 2024 at Bentley University, Waltham, MA. Click here for details.
- Gulf Stream and Weather Seminar, March 17, 2024 at Bentley University, Waltham, MA. Click here for details.
- Visit to Boston Boatworks, 333 Terminal St, Boston, MA 02129 at 1600 on April 3, 2024. We’ll see two boats that are being built for Barton & Gray Mariners Club and after the Boatworks tour those that wish to will retire to Brewers Fork for drinks and conversation. I have just confirmed that Barton & Gray co-founder, Doug Gray (who I am proud to say is my godson) will attend. I’ve asked him not to give us a pitch for B&G, but to tell us how they decided to build their own boats rather than buy off the shelf. There is no charge for this event, click here to register. The visit is starting to fill up, so don’t wait too long.
- India Wharf Rats Club, final Boston Station lunch before summer, Noon on April 17, 2024. The Rats Club is always fun with lively conversation, chowder, and drinks in a unique place. It’s a great way to meet other members or catch up with old friends. Cost is $40 per person. Click here for directions and to register.
Best regards,
Nick Orem
