Generally
Rebuilt in 2019, the CCA website (https://cruisingclub.org) is run on a modern content management system called “Drupal.” This system is used to manage several million sites and is the second most popular system in use. We migrated the site to the latest version of this tool, which should allow us to stay on this system for at least five more years.
This manual is designed to allow users at all level to get the most out of the site.
All Users
Logging in
At the top of every page is a link to log in. You may log in with your registered email address or with your username, if you recall it. You will also need your password. To respect your security, we cannot read your password.
What if I forget my Password?
If you forget your password, you can use the “Forgot Password” link on the login screen. This will send a link to your email address from webmaster@cruisingclub.org (you may need to check your spam folder). Use that link to log in.
From the login page, you can create a new password. This is the only time you can do this without knowing your prior password, apparently.
If you try to log in five times and fail, your account will be locked until you do the “Forgot Password” procedure.
IF ALL ELSE FAILS: email the webmaster at Webmaster@cruisingclub.org and we can create a specified password for you.
Changing your login
If you know your password, you can go to the “Manage Web Login” under the Member Links menu item and change your username or email address. Otherwise, use the lost login method above to be taken to a screen that will let you do it.
Problems
Some things do arise sometimes. If you do a bad login five times, you’re logged out till you do a password reset. Sometimes, nothing works. Try a different browser or device, or contact the Webmaster.
Members
Access things just for you
Members can see things that others can’t: profiles and contact information for themselves and others, the GAM, certain event information, member moorings, and more, for example
Changing your profile
When logged in, you can go to your profile (either search it with the link at the top of the page or use the link under Member Links to find it. Click “Edit” and change the information there. It’s organized into pages which you can select with the side tabs. We especially want your email address, and contact info. Feel free to add a biographical note and a photo. Be sure to save.
Adding and changing boats
You may have as many boats listed as you want. If your boat is listed, click on the boat name from your “Profile” page, and then click “edit” to revise. Be sure to save.
You can add a boat also. Use the link at the top of the profile edit page, or https://cruisingclub.org/node/add/yacht_profile. Be sure to add yourself and any other owners as the OWNER of the boat.
Add or update spouse info
You can only have one spouse. If your spouse is active in CCA, they may have a profile themselves, linked to and from yours. Otherwise, we just collect their name and email address, if any.
Dues
Club dues are collected through our website. A custom page calculates your dues liability based on your member number. You need not be logged in if you have your member number and go to https://cruisingclub.org/mydues/xxx where xxx is your member number. Otherwise, log in and go to Dues under Member Links>Manage Account. There you can check your obligations, add them to your shopping cart, check out, and pay.
Events Signups
CCA and its various organizations hold events. Most of them use the online tools on the CCA website. Signups on the site will typically invite you to supply participant names, some contact information, and maybe some other options. Generally, Log-In is not required. Once you have filled out the form there are a few more steps:
- Go to your “cart” (https://cruisingclub.org/cart) You should see a link to it. If the content looks proper
- Click “Checkout”. Enter your contact information and email address. No need to log in. Select your preferred payment method from those available.
- Click “Review Order” Look at the page. All good? Then click
- “Submit Order”. If your card information checks, it will be submitted. If you are using PayPal, you will be taken to the PayPal page to complete the transaction.
You should receive a confirming email. If not, there was an error, and you should contact us.
Volunteering (interests form)
Among the forms available on the website is a Volunteer interests and experience form, which can be linked to your profile. This will help organization leaders be aware of your interests!

Create Signups
Here are the steps
We have converted to a new order system. Instructions here
Create Forms
We can create arbitrarily complex online forms and use them for any number of purposes. This is quite complex and best done as a request to the webmaster
Mailing Lists
You can obtain a roster of everyone in a committee, or members of a station or post, or the officers of a station or post. Go to the roster link, and see the “downloadable” ink at the top of the page. Select the organization you want the list for and what options you want and download it. We’re working on a direct email service!
Modify who is on committee
Go to the Committee page. (Find it from the station page or the CCA page at cruisingclub.org/cca). Find the edit tab at the top (ask webmaster if you can’t).
- Click the “Edit” tab. Open the “Roster” tab.
- DO NOT remove past rear commodores!
- To Change who holds an office, find that office in the roster list and change the person listed there
- To change an office held by a person, find the person and change their office.
- If the office you want is not there, enter it in the “extra information”
- Note: Chairs of subcommittees already will appear on the roster page, no need to re-add them
Upload management
For projects, such as the GAM and Voyages, that might require photos or documents to be submitted, an upload form has been created at https://cruisingclub.org/form/materials-submission. Once you are set up, you’ll get a notice when somebody does an upload and you can access it.
Special Membership Management Items
Change station or post
To avoid confusion, Station and Post changes must be submitted to Secretary, Roster manager, or Webmaster for entry.
Change spouse
Members can edit their spouse or change them. Once deceased, we can automatically create the listing for the survivor
Eight Bells/Final voyage
Listing someone as deceased is also limited, but the final voyages manager (Dave Curtin) has that power as well.
Publications
Periodicals are now being uploaded to a dedicated service that makes them readily viewable online. It’s called ISSUU and is linked from our website
Voyages
Gam
Books
Also, our Waypoints email newsletter is mailed monthly.
Dedicated listings for books by CCA authors are now being commenced. Currently stored: A “librarian” is needed to maintain this effort
Safety at Sea
Because our SAS and other courses predominantly involve non-members, we handle these matters on a separate site: https://sas.cruisingclub.org.
This site handles signups for multiple dates, and it manages the distribution of online course tokens.
Also manages other courses and provides an alternate listing of US Sailing certified courses.
