On June 15, Guirec Soudee, the CCA’s 2019 Young Voyager awardee, departed from Chatham to row across the Atlantic. Woody Metzger, of First Light Boatworks, towed Guirec’s 27 foot purpose-built rowing craft from Mill Pond out to the open ocean.

Peter Gibbons-Neff has a solo bluewater mission this year in a sailboat that’s unlike the boats his fellow members of the Cruising Club of America sail offshore. Terminal Leave is an RG 650, a Classe Mini 6.50 design, and it stretches all of 21 feet, 4 inches.

The Cruising Club of America couldn't hand out its 2020 awards in person, so the club made it a special event and gathered a pantheon of great sailors on Zoom.

NEW YORK (Feb. 9, 2021)—An extraordinary group of sailors have been named winners of the Cruising Club of America most prestigious annual awards: Christian Charalambous, of Australia, receives the Rod Stephens Seamanship Trophy; Calypso Romero and Adrien Koller, of Ushuaia, Argentina, the Young Voyager Award; and Stephen Brown, of Carleon, South Wales, the Far Horizons Award.
